CIBONEY
The Ciboney, natives of the island of Cuba, are descendants of
the "Carey" (sea turtle) and the "Biajaca" (sacred fish). Today, there
are no aborigines in Cuba, but their descendants are found across the islands of the
Caribbean and Florida, and are maintaining and enriching the diversity of the modern Cuban
heritage. The mission of the Ciboney Tribe is to promote Caribbean cultural awareness and
preserve the Native Cuban heritage through native Cuban Indian/Ciboney dances, and through
exhibits pf artifacts from prehistoric to contemporary times, as well as handcrafted
Ciboney arts and crafts. (http://www.ciboneytribe.org)
