NANAY, INC - MICHIGAN CHAPTER NANAY, as Filipino word for “mother” is also an acronym that stands for National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth. It is a tax-exempt charitable organization that seeks to enhance the lives of our elders and youth by providing supportive services and disseminating useful information to the community. Its main corporate office is located in Miami, Florida with satellite Center located in Broward (Florida), and regional chapters in San Francisco/Bay Area ( California) and Little Rock (Arkansas). The Michigan chapter was organized on May, 2002 by enthusiastic community leaders headed by its Regional Executive Director, Becky Tungol. NANAY services are supported by FILAMCCO headed by Ed Navarra and the PACCM president, Dr. Efren Platon. A Mother’s Day Luncheon last May 12, 2002 was the first project undertaken by NANAY. It was attended by more than 150 guests including Senior citizens and youth . It was a very emotional moment when the children expressed their gratitude and love to their mothers as they offer them roses. Everyone enjoyed dancing while others were competing in Karaoke singing. It was a lot of fun for all the families. Prizes were given to two oldest seniors, parents with the most children (winner had 13), guest that came from the farthest place (winner was from the Phil.). The Tagumpay Philippine Cultural Group entertained everyone with their Kuratsa and Tinikling dance. R. Anayas played the violin.
