Registration for North Miami CRA Housing Assistance and Subsidy Programs Opens in North Miami North Miami, Florida – April 4, 2007 April 9, 2007 marks the official launching of the initial open registration period for North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) affordable housing assistance programs and subsidies, in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to assist qualified residents, either owners or renters in the City of North Miami, for the acquisition and/or rehabilitation of homes. These subsidies and related assistance are available to those who are interested in first time home buyer assistance, in purchasing a townhome in the Pioneer Gardens at North Miami housing development, single family home rehabilitation assistance or assistance in obtaining affordable rental housing. The Housing Partnership of North Miami (HPNM), a collaboration between NANAY (National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth), Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) and Little Haiti Housing Association (LHHA) is under contract with the North Miami CRA to support the marketing of its housing assistance programs by providing community outreach, applicant registration/screening, counseling, homebuyer training, credit pre-qualification and purchase assistance services. HPNM provides a unique home ownership resource to North Miami home buyers because of the combined expertise of these three organizations in specific cultural, social, educational and home ownership issues of people from diverse cultures and ethnic/racial backgrounds. “In partnership with the City of North Miami the CRA is committed to improving the quality of life of North Miami residents by revitalizing the City’s physical, economic, educational and social resources”, says North Miami CRA Executive Director Tony E. Crapp, Sr. who recently signed a contract with HPNM to assist applicants in determining which subsidy programs are suitable to them, and provide home ownership education/counseling and home purchase assistance to North Miami’s first time home buyers. The official open registration kick-off will be held at the NANAY Housing Resource Center (NHRC) located at 659 NE 125 Street in North Miami from noon to 3:00 pm on Monday, April 9, 2007. Registration will be open for a period of one month to qualified residents, ending on May 8, 2007. To facilitate registration, NHRC (located at 659 NE 125 Street) and Little Haiti Community Center (located at 181 NE 82nd Street in Miami where NHS and LHHA are sharing space) will be open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Orientation will be scheduled at NHRC on Tuesday and Thursday, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. NHRC is also open on Saturday from noon—5:00 pm during this one-month registration period (April 9 to May 8, 2007). To register for CRA affordable housing assistance programs, applicants must submit a completed Registration form in person or by mail. Eligible residents must have lived in North Miami since December 8, 2004 and meet annual family income limits to qualify for the North Miami CRA loan subsidy.
