Minutes of Meeting- Philippines

 History of Nanay Phils. advocacy read as stated in the application for grant funding, why and how NANAY, Inc. (Florida) decided to take up the challenge, problems to be taken up and possible solutions to problems, plan of actions, possible funding sources, initial budget allocation (not final).
 
Relationship of Nanay Philippines to Nanay, Inc. (Florida), organizational structure, initial appointed officers, positions, and designations of those already named.
 
Elsa Bayani reports meeting with Sen. Magsaysay yielded a P1million pesos funding from his pork barrel for "sustainable livelihood projects"  and a 5 hectare land area (10 acres) inside the RM Agricultural College in Castillejos, Zambales.
 
Chee Garcia mentioned that it takes at least one year to process the release of the P1Million pesos from the pork barrel of Senator Magsaysay. The meeting at the Senator's office is covered in video tape. No details about use of 10 acres allocated.
 
3:05 p.m. Self-introductions - each one minute up tp 2 minutes

- SEC reg. and incoporation - Ed Pascual
- Inventory of existing facilities - jails, rehab centers, etc. - Tim Bayani and General Alit
- Needs Assessment - date on CICL from DSWD from BJMP, DILG, DOJ
    programs and services - Dinky Soliman, Pennie, Ed Pascual and Tessie Gomez
- Secretariat - to be at PLM Concern Foundation (office base) - Dr. Chee Garcia and Dr.
     Taringting
- Funds Management - Mely Nicolas and Ed Pascual
- Fund Raising - Maria Luz, Marilyn, Ka Edong, Jun Aguilar, Jazmine Aguilar
- PR/Media - Maria Luz, Chee Garcia, Marilyn, Ninfa Bito (Ninfa has started a documentary of NANAY Phils. and will follow us during significant visits and events.
 
Ed Pascual was given the copy of draft of CBLaws for reg.
Chee Garcia received the copy of grant application.
Chuck Agustin announced he will leave for China Sept. 24 until Oct. 2 but will keep checking his emails.
Mely Nicolas promised to link NANAY Philippines with NGOs and will give her full support.
Fund-raising ideas given such as bazaars, fashion shows, own news magazine for children in prisons.
Visits to Navotas, Caloocan, and Malabon jails set for Oct. 15, 2005.  (This date was changed to October 24, 2006 - meeting place at SM Bonifacio - may subject to change)
 
There having no other business - next meeting set for 22 November 2005 and thereafter every two months on the 22nd day - next to November, is January 22, 2006 regardless of day of the week.
Meeting adjourned: 4:50 p.m.  These minutes will be approved on next meeting - November 22, 2005.
 
No disbursement from funds now in bank at Wachovia Bank, Florida has been made.
 
Philippine Bank account not yet opened for donations in the Philippines.  Soon as the reserved name is approved, a bank account will be opened with Elsa Bayani as signatory and and appointed Treasurer residing in the Philippines (also as a signatory to Philippine account).
