APRIL 2006 SCHEDULE of “Free Workshops” For Caregivers Workshops are free and registration is not required. However, we encourage pre-registration to ensure that there are enough materials or handouts for everyone. Call NANAY Community Center at 305-981-3232 to let us know that you are planning to attend! Workshops are conducted at NANAY Community Center, 659 NE 125th Street in the City of North Miami at 4:30 p.m. April 4 (Tuesday) Personal Hopes & Expectations: How to Avoid Disappointments : Learn the practical ways to avoid disappointments by setting realistic hopes and expectations. April 6 (Thursday) Who Are At-Risk? – Elder Mistreatment, Intervention and Prevention: Find out the different types of elder mistreatment and the ways to intervene and prevent them. April 11 (Tuesday) Lifelong Learning Skills: How to Develop Ways of Absorbing New and Retaining Old Knowledge: Find out how to develop skills to learn new and retain old information that you value. April 13 (Thursday) The Art of Conversation: Dialogue vs. Debate: Learn how to communicate with others effectively by understanding the differences between a “dialogue” and “debate”. April 18 (Tuesday) Stress Management: How to Overcome Habit of Procrastination (“Manana” Habit): Putting off what we can do today is a habit that can cause mental and social stress. Ease your mind by learning the different ways to avoid procrastination. April 20 (Thursday) Stress Management: How to Deal With Issues Regarding Family and/or Significant Others: People that we care about tend to deeply affect our emotions. This workshop is intended to help ease the tension in dealing with problems and issues regarding people that we care about. April 25(Tuesday) Management of Impressions: How to Put Your Best Foot Forward in Everyday Life: Learn how to define and control the kinds of impressions that you would like others to have about you. April 27 (Thursday) Cross Cultural Relations: How to Make Friends in a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Community: We live in a community that is composed of people who come from different cultures and speak different languages. Learn the value of friendship in a diverse community and the ways to reach out to people in our community. |
